WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2008 – Nintendo DS – Demo
I seem to be on a DS roll, because, well, it’s a emulation scene rarely focused on, especially here at YouTube.
What I’m about to show you is how NOT to do a wrestling game. I think the demo alone should be a warning sign that this is a terrible game, and why touch screen mechanics should be abolished from the next installment.
Basically, you choose an action, and then you have about half a second to perform the touch motion necessary to perform said action. This can vary from a simple diagonal sweep, to a rapid back-and-forth motion, to rotating clockwise. This is everything from punching to grappling.
It’s just… gameplay that has no place in a WWE game. I could understand if THQ was going for innovation, but… it just doesn’t fit in this game. You notice how bad a normal match looks because of it. That’s because the game has to stop, and wait for the player to choose their action.
WWE games are supposed to be about fast paced, no holds barred gameplay. This… is not fast.
Smackdown vs RAW 2008 for the DS… YOU’RE FIRED!!
